Luis Gallo & Marina Albero Quartet: An avant-garde encounter between Flamenco and Jazz. The collaboration between Luis Gallo and Marina Albero was born in Los Angeles in 2016 as a space for creative freedom where contemporary flamenco, jazz, and improvisation converge naturally. After solidifying their musical chemistry during tours along the U.S. West Coast and at venues like the Columbia City Theater in Seattle, the project arrives in Madrid, bringing together a cast of exceptional musicians who blur the boundaries between genres. The quartet is led by Barcelona-native Marina Albero, a pianist based in New Orleans and awarded for her ability to fuse Latin and Mediterranean traditions. As a resident artist at the Seattle Jazz Festival in 2021, she has collaborated with masters such as Chano Domínguez and L’Arpeggiata, receiving critical acclaim for her "limitless creative energy." Alongside her, guitarist and producer Luis Gallo, a Paco de Lucía Award nominee, brings his cosmopolitan vision following a career marked by collaborations with Hans Zimmer, Ara Malikian, and Rosalía, as well as his teaching work at Berklee College of Music. The rhythm section features two undisputed references: double bassist Josemi Garzón, a key figure in the Madrid scene who has accompanied legends like Enrique Morente and Carmen Linares, bringing a unique groove between jazz and tradition; and drummer Miquel Asensio, trained at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, whose proficiency has led him to play at the Blue Note in Tokyo alongside artists such as Andrea Motis and Perico Sambeat. Together, they offer a proposal where virtuosity and Mediterranean roots engage in a dialogue with the audacity of modern improvisation.
