Philip Lassiter is a musician, arranger, and trumpeter who has won 11 Grammy Awards. His career is deeply influenced by genres such as Texas funk, Alabama gospel, New Orleans jazz, and Nashville soul.
He was the leader and arranger of the horn section for Prince’s band, The New Power Generation.
Philip has quickly earned respect as the go-to arranger and trumpeter for iconic artists such as Prince, Kirk Franklin, Ariana Grande, Roberta Flack, Jill Scott, Anderson .Paak, Al Jarreau, The Isley Brothers, Cory Henry, Fred Hammond, Bernard Wright, Bobby Sparks, Snarky Puppy, Erykah Badu, and many more.
His passion for music began at age six with the piano, and being the son of a preacher taught him how to captivate an audience. His musical journey has taken him through different cities across the U.S., where he honed his skills on trumpet and piano, incorporating influences from jazz, salsa, merengue, gospel, and funk.
Currently, Philip has his own 14-piece band called Philthy, described as an explosion of energy, soul, and funk. With this band, Lassiter aims to share his talent and unique musical vision, delivering a high-energy live show with a sound that fuses diverse influences.
