“SouLift is a Madrid-based band that fuses soul, funk, reggae, and rock in their own style, with a touch of gospel. The lineup consists of musicians from four countries and three continents: Spain, Nigeria, Cameroon, and the United States.
Singer Amos Obasohan, leader of the ‘Madrid Gospel Choir,’ is the lead voice, and his timbre varies between American gospel and Nigerian high life, even mixing in Jamaican reggae. He is accompanied by Californian guitarist/singer Erik La Chapelle, who composes the songs with Amos and adds his funk/rock touches on guitar along with an American soul and rock vocal nuance. The rest of the members come from a diverse and eclectic music scene. The solid Made-in-Spain rhythm section of bass/drums is made up of Christophe Alcalá and Javi Jiménez. The multifaceted Olusoji Sool Jaiyeola handles keyboards and saxophone and adds ingredients with lots of flavor. And Mirabelle Kapnan's voice completes the rich fusion of three-part harmonies, which sets SouLift apart from many other bands in the scene today.
